DEADBEAT DALTON FAILS TORONTO

NDP MPP Paul Ferreira is outraged that Dalton McGuinty has refused to address Toronto’s budget crisis in light of the proposed TTC budget cuts.

“Deadbeat Dalton should start paying his bills and stop forcing the people of Toronto to pay them for him,” said Ferreira.

Ferreira said the people who will suffer the most are low-income families who rely on public transit. Fare hikes and service cuts will mean more cars on the road, dirtier air, increased waiting times, and more children with asthma.

“Cities and towns across Ontario can no longer afford Mike Harris’ and Dalton McGuinty’s provincially downloaded responsibilities,” Ferreira said. “Cities are finding themselves in the impossible situation of choosing between paying the provincial tab, implementing regressive taxes or losing vital, affordable public transit. At a time when families are desperate for affordable public transit, the McGuinty Liberals are playing a funding shell game,” said Ferreira.

“When will Dalton McGuinty stop perpetuating the unfair downloading of provincial costs onto the backs of Torontonians? Municipal taxpayers can’t afford to shoulder the cost of his broken promises any longer,” said Ferreira.
