France Gélinas, MPP for Nickel Belt, is the NDP’s critic for Health and Long-Term Care, Northern Development and Mines, Seniors and Disabilities. In 2009, France introduced the Healthy Decisions for Healthy Eating bill, a private member’s bill which would make restaurant menus more transparent.

Since joining the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in 2007, France has advocated for workers, seniors and rural education. She promotes healthy communities by defending public health care and championing equity of access to PET scans.

Outside of government, France works with the United Way’s Citizens Advisory Panel, ensuring adequate and effective social services are available to the members of her community.

France, a Franco-Ontarian, lives in Sudbury, Ontario with her husband Keith Harris. They have three children and three grandchildren.
