Ontario’s NDP is Your NDP

Everyone has a different story about how they came to become a member of the Ontario NDP.
For myself, growing up in a working class home, I have many memories of my dad canvassing for the NDP in federal and provincial elections. But it really wasn’t until I was at university that I became personally interested in the NDP.
I was a student in the Labour Studies program at McMasterUniversitywhen I decided to join the NDP. The party’s goals and platform spoke to the issues that I felt were important and it expressed a vision for Ontariothat struck a chord for me.
Along with some classmates who had become good friends I got involved in a local riding association. I eventually became part of the riding executive, first in Hamilton Centre and then in Hamilton West. After attending an NDP campaign school in the mid 80’s I worked as a full-time volunteer for the first time on Brian Charlton’s 1987 HamiltonMountainre-election campaign.
By then I was a committed NDP activist and the rest, I guess, is history
