Biography:

"It’s time working families got a fair deal. Dalton McGuinty’s record has been one broken promise after another. But he still found time to give himself a $40,000 pay raise. That’s someone who has lost touch with working families. We deserve better.

"I’m proud to stand with Howard Hampton – a leader who is upfront, honest, and principled. You know you can count on us to stand up for seniors, children, parents, and working people.

"This time, ask yourself ‘Which leader and party can I count on to fight for a fair deal for working families?’

"I hope I can count on your support on October 10."

As a community advocate, Karan Mann-Bowers has shown a strong commitment to Ontarians who have been marginalized. Born and raised in Yorkshire, England, she immigrated to Canada in 1991 and has been a resident of Guelph for the past 12 years.

Karan is currently the Director of Services for Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region. In the past, she has worked with Family & Children Services as a Youth Worker, with the John Howard Society as a PAR facilitator and with the Salvation Army as a women’s counsellor. She has also taught courses at Sheridan College, and has been actively involved with Catholic Family Services of Peel-Dufferin, and with Women in Crisis in Guelph.

Whether fighting for women’s issues, or human rights, or services for children and youth, Karan has shown an unmatched dedication to her community and she is looking forward to standing up for Guelph’s working families as its next NDP MPP.
