“It’s time working families got a fair deal. Dalton McGuinty’s record has been one broken promise after another. But he still found time to give himself a $40,000 pay raise. That’s someone who has lost touch with working families. We deserve better.
“I’m proud to stand with Howard Hampton – a leader who is upfront, honest, and principled. You know you can count on us to stand up for seniors, children, parents, and working people.
“This time, ask yourself ‘Which leader and party can I count on to fight for a fair deal for working families?’
“I hope I can count on your support on October 10.”
Like many others Stephen Maynard moved to London to study at the University of Western Ontario, where he studied political science and civil engineering, and then decided to make London his home.
At university, Stephen took on many opportunities to involve himself in social and political activism. He was a member of the Women’s Issues Network, the Debating Society, and is a co-founder of Western’s chapter of Engineers Without Borders.
Stephen has recently worked on projects including the Make Poverty History campaign, Students for Fair Trade, the Ontario Social Justice Coalition, and participates in the Community Garden Project.
In early 2007, Stephen led Londoners in public opposition to attempts by some members of city council to cut municipal funding for affordable housing in the city. Through the intense public pressure of this effort, four council members changed their positions and the desperately needed funding was reinstated.
Stephen is a former owner and operator of his own small business. He has also worked at Irene Mathyssen’s constituency office, where he has gained first-hand understanding of the problems facing Londoners and all Canadians.
Stephen is looking forward to standing up for a fair deal for working families as the next MPP for London-Fanshawe.
