Biography:

“It’s time working families got a fair deal. Dalton McGuinty’s record has been one broken promise after another. But he still found time to give himself a $40,000 pay raise. That’s someone who has lost touch with working families. We deserve better.

“I’m proud to stand with Howard Hampton – a leader who is upfront, honest, and principled. You know you can count on us to stand up for seniors, children, parents, and working people.

“This time, ask yourself ‘Which leader and party can I count on to fight for a fair deal for working families?’

“I hope I can count on your support on October 10.”

Andy Arifin is excited about bringing a new and fresh voice to Ontario politics. Inspired by Howard Hampton’s optimistic vision for Ontario’s future, Andy is excited to be part of the NDP team as the party’s candidate in Markham-Unionville.

A lifelong resident of Markham, Andy is a committed student activist at York University where he is in his final year of an Honours degree in Political Science.

As a student, Andy has seen first-hand how Dalton McGuinty’s misguided policies on post-secondary education are driving ever-greater numbers of students further and further into debt. Others no longer have the option of going to university or taking their chosen courses of study because of McGuinty’s decision to deregulate fees for professional programs.

Andy is committed to standing up for the working families of Markham-Unionville and looks forward to representing them as their next MPP at Queen’s Park.
