Edelweiss D’Andrea is a committed ecologist, social activist and a strong advocate in her community on environmental issues.

As a member of the City of Ottawa’s Environmental Advisory Committee, Edelweiss promoted the reduction of energy consumption as a way of avoiding the McGuinty Liberals’ plan to spend billions of dollars developing nuclear energy. Through her initiative, Ottawa council passed a motion calling on the provincial government to re-examine its plans on nuclear power by looking more carefully at safer, cleaner conservation.

Edelweiss is also a member of a working group that has created a Biodiversity Strategy for Ottawa.

Edelweiss has five years of experience in organizing events for nonprofit organizations that address environmental issues. She is also an experienced writer and editor who has focused on health and environmental issues. She is trilingual, speaking English, French and Italian.

Edelweiss looks forward to championing a fair deal for her constituents as the next representative for Ottawa South at Queen’s Park.
