The Ontario NDP's position on presumed consent for organ donation received support in editorials in the Hamilton Spectator and the Sault Ste. Marie Star.

The Hamilton Spectator editorial noted -"Ontario's New Democrats will take another shot at enacting legislation to make everyone a potential organ donor unless they explicitly indicate otherwise.

About 1,700 Ontarians are waiting for organ transplants. Across Canada, 4,000 people need new organs and 140 to 250 will die each year before they get a transplant."

The sault Star editorial says in part "Given the dire need for organs and the general public attitude that donating organs is a good thing, it makes sense that the onus of consent regarding organ donation should be reversed".
