GO Transit concedes to community pressure surrounding pile-driving

NDP MPP Cheri DiNovo’s office has learned that GO Transit is preparing to test quieter French pile driving technology for the West Toronto Diamond project due to the activism of local residents, pressure from the press and relentless questioning of Liberal Transportation Minister Jim Bradley.

“After months of sustained community pressure, I am pleased to hear that GO Transit is finally listening to the demands of residents,” stated DiNovo.

“Yet, while this is encouraging news, why won’t GO suspend the unnecessarily harmful method of diesel pile-driving in the meantime?”

“Given the damage that has occurred, the McGuinty government has to learn that it can’t build necessary public transit without first listening to the needs of Ontarians,” concluded DiNovo.
