NDP exposes McGuinty’s million-dollar-a-day consultant addiction

The McGuinty Liberals are hooked on consultants to the tune of $1-million dollars a day, according to documents obtained by the NDP Caucus through a Freedom of Information request.

“The documents show the Liberals spent nearly $400-million on high-priced consultants last year alone,” said Hamilton East—Stoney Creek MPP Paul Miller during this morning’s Question Period.

McGuinty idles as auto insurers drive up premiums

Warning that the average driver in the Greater Toronto Area will be paying nearly 14 per cent more for auto insurance by the end of the year, NDP MPP Michael Prue today urged the McGuinty Liberals to stop caving in to every demand of the private auto insurance industry and draw the line on rate increases.

“Smoke Free Ontario” cuts make no sense: NDP

NDP Health Promotion Critic and Nickel Belt MPP France Gélinas says the McGuinty government’s cuts to “Smoke Free Ontario” make no financial sense.

During today’s Question Period, Gélinas revealed that the so-called Ministry of Health Promotion has slashed the Smoke Free budget by almost one-third. According to figures compiled by the Ontario Campaign for Action on Tobacco (OCAT) Strategy, funding has been reduced from $60-million last year to $42.8-million this year.
