The Northern Ontario growth plan released today by the McGuinty Liberal government does nothing to bring the forestry jobs that have been lost as a result of disastrous hydro and trade policies, says Kenora-Rainy River NDP MPP Howard Hampton.

MPP Paul Miller, NDP Seniors Issues Critic, asked the McGuinty Liberals, in advance of today’s economic statement, “What additional cuts, costs and loss of service will seniors suffer after 3 o’clock?”

For the second consecutive day in Question Period, NDP Finance Critic Michael Prue (Beaches-East York) called for the McGuinty government to implement a tax credit for farmers who donate surplus produce to Ontario’s food banks.

New Democrat Leader Andrea Horwath says the McGuinty Liberals’ unbalanced approach to the economy leaves families paying more and getting less.

“Ontarians want a government that will balance its priorities, not one that puts the entire burden onto the backs of families,” said Horwath. “The McGuinty Liberals are telling Ontario families to pay more and expect less. Yet they still have billions for and irresponsible and unfair corporate tax giveaway.”
