Using several galvanized steel buckets full of pennies to illustrate the difference between the NDP’s Health Tax Rebate of up to $450 per person and Dalton McGuinty’s broken promise to not raise taxes “by one cent” during the 2003 leaders’ debate, Ontario NDP Leader Howard Hampton talked about how his Fair Tax Plan will make life more affordable for working families. Sault Ste. Marie NDP Candidate Jeff Arbus welcomed Hampton’s plan and described some of the difficulties families in the North are facing.

NDP KEY COMMITMENT: $450 HEALTH TAX REBATE FOR WORKING FAMILIES

Ontario NDP Leader Howard Hampton says he will bring balance to Ontario’s tax system with a Fair Tax Plan that will put money back in the pockets of 75 per cent of working families while protecting health services. In the first of a series of six key commitments, Hampton announced that the NDP would provide a Health Tax Rebate of up to $450 per person and $900 per two-income family.
