Today I rise to remember and honour those who faced unimaginable horror and persecution, less than a few decades ago.

On behalf of the Ontario New Democratic Party, I wish to extend warm greetings during South Asian Heritage Month.

On behalf of the Ontario NDP Caucus and the members of the Ontario New Democratic Party, I would like to wish the Sikh community Vaisakhi Di Lakh Lakh Vadhai Hovai Ji.

NDP MPP Cheri DiNovo was joined today by NDP Leader Howard Hampton, and fellow NDP MPPs Michael Prue and Paul Miller, at a Queen’s Park demonstration demanding the McGuinty Liberals put human rights before trade with China.

Ontario’s NDP honoured Larry Taylor and the late Ben Russell for their significant contributions towards eliminating racial discrimination at the annual J.S. Woodsworth Awards.
“I am proud to pay tribute to Larry Taylor and the late Ben Russell for their work to eliminate racism and racial discrimination by awarding them the J.S Woodsworth award. They have both made important contributions in the fight against prejudice and hatred based on colour, race, or ethnic origin. Tonight, I have the privilege of honouring them both for leading the struggle for a just and equitable Ontario,” said NDP Citizenship and Immigration Critic Peter Tabuns.

NDP Leader Howard Hampton says it’s time to toughen up the rules that let the McGuinty Liberals use public money as a political slush fund.

“Dalton McGuinty can’t fob off responsibility for this scandal onto one disgraced cabinet minister. The issue is not Mike Colle’s actions. It’s McGuinty’s attitude – his lack of standards, fairness and accountability. This is his responsibility and his failure,” said Hampton.
