NDP Leader Howard Hampton today slammed the McGuinty government for doling out more than $400-million in corporate hand-outs to the “Big Three” auto makers while they slash their Ontario workforce by 10,000.

NDP MPP Paul Miller went after the McGuinty Liberals today for their sorry record of job losses across Hamilton-Niagara.

“What is this government going to do to stem the tide of lost jobs in Hamilton, St. Catharines and elsewhere?” asked Miller during Question Period.

NDP Leader Howard Hampton today strongly reiterated his call for Dalton McGuinty to take immediate action to protect jobs in Ontario’s ailing manufacturing and resource sectors.

“Two weeks ago, the Premier had a chance to put forward a real jobs plan. He blew it. His budget didn’t mention an industrial hydro rate, it didn’t mention a ‘Buy Ontario’ policy, and it didn’t mention a refundable manufacturing investment tax credit. These are all things the NDP has been calling for and which other provinces have embraced,” said Hampton.

NDP MPP Paul Miller today brought his Bill 6, An Act to Amend the Employment Standards Act (Wage Security) 2007, to the Committee on General Government to establish hearing dates for public deputations.
