Quit stalling, get e-cars on the road now: NDP MPPs

NDP MPPs are lambasting the McGuinty government for delaying the approval of electric cars on Ontario roads and dragging its feet on tackling climate change.

With increasing numbers of Ontarians clamouring for access to the environmentally-friendly vehicles, the Ministry of Transportation has commissioned an independent safety study of low speed electric vehicles, even though British Columbia and Quebec already allow low-emission electric cars on their roads.

NDP calls for McGuinty government to come clean on Blue 22

NDP Transportation critic Gilles Bisson called on the McGuinty Liberals to come clean on their plan for the proposed Blue 22 air-rail link between Union Station and Pearson Airport.

“Decisions like this shouldn’t be made under the radar and in the backroom. The people of York South-Weston have been very clear – they do not want the privately-run, publicly-subsidized Blue 22 air-rail link. Why is an anonymous ‘government source’ telling the citizens of York South-Weston that construction may start in early 2009?” Bisson asked.

Bisson blasts MTO licensing practices

NDP Transportation Critic Gilles Bisson today questioned the effectiveness of the Ministry of Transportation’s driver licensing practices in the wake of several troubling incidents.

The latest cause for concern: the case of a Kingston-area man who managed to obtain a driver’s licence even after he received a lifetime driving ban for killing four people while driving drunk.
