Nickel Belt MPP and NDP Health Critic France Gélinas is urging the Minister of Health Promotion to reverse her decision to terminate funding to the Youth Action Alliance, a program led by youth to empower their peers to resist the tactics of tobacco marketing.

NDP Health Critic France Gélinas says the McGuinty Liberal government must reject a recommendation to reduce the cap for medical and rehabilitation benefits for non-catastrophic auto accident insurance claims to $25,000 from $100,000.

NDP Health Critic France Gélinas today stood with people from across rural and northern Ontario protesting local hospital cuts at a Queen’s Park rally and in the Legislature during Question Period.

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath joined thousands of Ontarians today to demand that Dalton McGuinty stop cuts to rural and small town hospitals and protect local health services.

“Right now, communities across Ontario are facing a crisis in healthcare under the McGuinty Liberals that we haven’t seen since the days of Mike Harris,” said Horwath.
