NDP Leader Howard Hampton will reverse four years of McGuinty Liberals weakening Ontario communities by delivering a fair deal to municipalities and today’s working families. The NDP plan to rebalance the provincial-municipal fiscal relationship will freeze transit fares for two years, ease pressure on rising property taxes and provide increased support for key municipal services.

NDP Leader Howard Hampton visited Hamilton today to see first-hand how Dalton McGuinty has failed working families who are being squeezed by years of government inaction on flood problems.

Hampton visited the home of Ronda Gregory to see for himself how the McGuinty government’s failure to provide fair infrastructure funding for Hamilton’s aging sewer system has hurt local families.

NDP Leader Howard Hampton said today that Dalton McGuinty’s latest budget fails Windsor by the complete absence of any commitment to improve Windsor’s border infrastructure.

Hampton’s comments came as part of his speech in the Ontario Legislature on an opposition day motion introduced by the NDP. The motion read:

The McGuinty Liberals’ failure to reform the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) means backwards planning decisions, like the developments slated for the Queen West Triangle, will continue to be foisted on Toronto neighbourhoods, said NDP Municipal Affairs Critic, Michael Prue.
