Hampton challenges McGuinty to tour Don Jail

NDP Leader Howard Hampton is challenging Premier Dalton McGuinty to accept an invitation to tour Toronto’s crumbling Don Jail.

Last Friday, Hampton and NDP Corrections Critic Peter Kormos accepted the invitation of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) to see first-hand the overcrowded jail’s squalid conditions.

Hampton calls for immediate ban on Taser use on minors

NDP Leader Howard Hampton is calling on the McGuinty government to enforce an immediate ban on the use of Tasers on minors, except in lethal situations.

In addition, Hampton is calling for a complete moratorium on the use of Tasers until a provincial review of the devices has been conducted and a province-wide protocol for their use is put into effect.

McGuinty not doing enough to prevent school violence

NDP Leader Howard Hampton says the McGuinty government has ignored key recommendations that would help stem school violence in Ontario.

“Guns have no place in our school and no place in our children's hands. We have to get the guns off the streets and stop the violence. When parents send their children to school they have the right to expect that their children are safe. The safety of our children, however, requires far more than a police presence in a few schools,” said the NDP Leader.

Family Victimized Without Inquest Into Boy's Murder
